“Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.”
Psalm 84:10 (NIV)
Obviously, David was a lover of the house of God.
I am sure that there is something deeper about that verse. David was not just talking about going to church and enjoy the moment with our brothers and sisters in Christ. He understood that there was something in the house of God that he couldn’t miss.
An important thing we usually forget is the fact that God’s presence is not just limited to be in a church. In fact, it is not because you leave the church that you leave God’s presence.
David loved God’s house. But he understood that he needed to love God’s presence hundred times more. He preferred to spend a day in His presence than a thousand without Him.
We live in a world where to entertain ourselves, we have a lot of choices. And even back then, I am sure David, as a king, had a lot of choices too. However, nothing can provide us with more happiness, peace and confidence than spending time with our God. David understood that it was not boring or tiring but rather necessary.
What are the advantages of loving God’s presence ?
“The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of our God. They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green, proclaiming, “The Lord is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.””
Psalm 92:12-15 NIV
A cedar of Lebanon has the particularity to grow up to 1200 meters. So yeah, it can be really really high. And that’s how high we can go if we are planted in the house of God which means His presence.
He’ll help us go higher and higher and make us majestic. We need to love being in His presence simply because there’s nothing better. Absolutely nothing. Then, our strength, beauty and intelligence will flourish in His courts.
In fact, being in God’s presence doesn’t end at the end of the service. It’s a condition we need to keep continually. That means that no matter where you are and what you’re doing, you need to stay in God’s presence. And God doesn’t tolerate sins so when you’re sinning, you’re getting yourself out of it.
Stay in that presence for who He is and not what He has. And He is Peace, Love, Life, Truth, Way… He is our everything.
Just take at least five minutes and get on your knees. Think about how good and loving He is and just say “thank you”. Or, just appreciate the moment and feel His Peace overwhelms your heart. And most important : let that Peace stay forever by continually be in His presence.
You are loved and important.
You were born to shine.
God bless you.

Thanks for your exhortation! You’re right, by saying that “we need to be constantly in the presence of the Most High.
Nowadays people have so confused and doesn’t understand that.
The problem is the many who call themselves Christian doesn’t know the meaning of “Church ” in fact the Modern Church or Institutional Church have Stolen the Glory of our God to change it by image of Man. That’s the problem!
They Change the Message of Gospel: ” by saying that Man have Free Choices or free will to believe in Christ ”
They have twisted the truth of Salvation,….
There is a lot,….
But God is Sovereign and None of is Elected can lose his Salvation.
Because Christ have payed the price worth to Save his Elected.
To God be the glory
