Sanctification is the key 🔑

“Peter said, “No! You will never wash my feet.” Jesus answered, “If I don’t wash your feet, you are not one of my people.””

John 13:8 (ERV)

Few hours before being crucified, Jesus was eating with his disciples. While they were eating, Jesus did a strange thing. He, the master, the savior and King of kings decided to wash his disciples feet.

As Jesus said in verse 7, they were really confused and didn’t understand why He was doing that. But what Jesus did was an important teaching. He is teaching us something viral.

While some of us think that because of His grace, everything is granted, Jesus reminds us that although we are saved by grace, UNLESS HE WASHES US, WE ARE NOT OF HIS PEOPLE.

Oh, how I love that Easy-To-Read version. That really explains how important sanctification is. We must let Jesus wash our bodies, spirits, souls and minds. If we don’t live a life ruled by the Holy Spirit which means living a life based on the Word of God, we have no part with Jesus.

You can’t call yourself a Christian when sinning doesn’t disturb you. The Holy Spirit’s role in our lives is like the fire alarm in our houses. When something is burning or about to burn, the alarm turns on. That’s how the Holy Spirit acts. When we sin AND when we’re about to sin, He turns on the alarm of our hearts and reminds us that we need to be holy to have part with Jesus.

God’s grace gives us access to His heart door. But the key that can unlock the door is sanctification. Jesus gave us the key that day when He washed the disciples’ feet. As the Bible says in Hebrews 12:14 (ERV) “Try to live in peace with everyone. And try to keep your lives free from sin. Anyone whose life is not holy will never see the Lord.”

Grace assures us that no matter how bad we once were or what we once did, God will never stop loving us.

Keeping our lives free from sin assures us that we will see the Lord. Grace without sanctification doesn’t have any effect in our lives. And sanctification without grace doesn’t exist. But grace + sanctification is what Jesus has taught us. And we live on what Jesus has taught us. 😁

You were born to shine.

Be blessed, in Jesus’ name.
